Working alarms can save lives in the event of a fire or CO leak. Tampering with them puts you and your neighbors at risk and can result in serious penalties.
Action Steps
Test all alarms at least every 6 months.
Replace batteries immediately when the alarm chirps or fails a test.
Never remove, cover, or disable an alarm.
Report any malfunctioning alarm through DoorLoop right away.
Fees & Penalties
$250 fee for tampering or disabling an alarm.
Tenant is responsible for damages caused by non-functioning alarms due to neglect.
