Why You’re Seeing a "Transaction Fee" When Paying Rent

Edited

Overview

If you see a transaction fee when paying rent, it’s because the payment was made with a credit card, debit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay instead of a bank transfer (ACH / e-Check). DoorLoop automatically applies a 3.25% fee to those card-based payments, which is why you’re seeing an extra charge.

Paying rent through ACH / Bank Transfer / e-Check is completely free — no fees at all. Using a card is convenient, but it comes with that extra platform fee.

How to Avoid the Fee

If you’d like to skip the transaction fee next month, here’s how to switch to a free payment method:

  1. Log in to your DoorLoop tenant portal.

  2. Go to the Payments section.

  3. Select your payment method and choose Bank Transfer (ACH / e-Check) instead of credit/debit.

  4. Add your bank account information if you haven’t already.

  5. Save your changes and schedule your rent payment.

That’s it. No more fees on your rent payments when you pay by bank transfer.
